We're Pete & Karen Hays — And We Know What 50+ Really Feels Like
Karen was an answer to a prayer. Curious by nature, she entered Pete's life in 2011. Today, they are well past fifty — shaped by real life, and between them have raised nine children. Their paths were not straight, but they never stopped believing in love, in faith, and the decision to choose one another.
Fogey Freedom did not begin as a plan. It began as a nudge.
In April 2020, Pete and Karen were standing together, talking — not about a website, not about a brand — but about people. About age. About how the world quietly begins to treat experience as expendable. Somewhere in that conversation, two words surfaced. Karen said Fogey. Pete said Freedom. Neither of them knew why — only that they belonged together.
Later that day, Pete traced what he imagined the Fogey Freedom logo could be. He drew it in the sand, knowing full well the tide would take it away. That felt right. What mattered wasn't permanence — it was the idea, and the people it would eventually reach.
